Blog#1 INWHA's Self-Introduction!!!

I'v grown up in Seoul, Korea. But now I'm so glad that I'm enjoying my university life at beautiful OSU. At the first time, the OSU campus was too big to me, so I was so tired of walking to my classes on my 1st week of spring quarter. But now I'm taking time to look around and getting used to OSU. It is interesting that I could look back on past days about how I came here, Columbus Ohio through starting my blog. I was living with my parents, my older brother and my cutie puppy poodle in Korea. When I was young, I was not interested in learning English. Oneday, I had chance to visit Ohio and West Virginia in 2004-2005 as an exchange student. For a year, I could learn many cultural things about US. Many precious experiences in both states gave me such a strong courage to live and study in US. However, I had to come back to my home country because I was not prepared to continue studying in US high school. When I became a university student, I studied and took TOEFL. End of not giving up my dream about studying abroad, I could be here.
As the start of spring quarter, I'm living in Neil Ave. Building. I think it is clean, modern, safe and convenient building. My major is chemistry. One of my dream is entering the college of pharmacy. As a phamasict, I think having responsibility of someone's health would be such an honor to me.
I also like to travel. I want to visit Hollywood, California, Las Vegas, niagara falls, yellowstone national park, and NYC. I hope to go those places before graduation.

Blog 1 : Self-Introduction from Rabat to Columbus

Hello! My name is Issam Boukabou and I am 26 years old. I was born in Rabat, which is the capital city of Morocco in North Africa. Rabat is located on the Atlantic coast and is divided into the Medina (old city) and the Ville Nouvelle (new city, built by the French). Moroccan Arabic and French are the most common languages you'll hear on the streets of Rabat. I spent 17 years there, going to school and then attending university, where I studied mathematics. While I was in the final semester of my master’s program, I had the opportunity to become a government teacher of high school math. I quit one month later because it was far away from my university and not what I was expecting. When I graduated I had a feeling that it might be a good time to study abroad and get away from home, so after two months, I left when I was accepted to the Technology and Enterprise Creation University in Paris, France. During my second semester, I got a green card to come to the U.S. When I first told my family where I was going, they immediately expected me to say something like New York, Washington, or Miami, because in my country not many people have heard of Ohio. I have lived in Columbus since 2010. My first two months were not easy, because I had no friends, no plans, and I was not able to speak English, but things are getting better now. I got a job with O.S.U and I’m in the process of transferring my school credit from my country and starting a new major which I always dreamed about. In fact, life seems happy here. Most of the people are very nice and they always want to help, and I love Ohio teams like the Bengals, The Ohio State Buckeyes, the Columbus Crew, and the Cincinnati Reds.

Blog#1 Self-introduction from Jing Zhu

I am Jing Zhu from China. If you want me to introduce myself, I have to bring up three cities. They are respectively Chengdu, Beijing and Columbus in which I spent impressive days.

Chengdu, "the Land of Abundance", which is the capital of Sichuan province located in southwestern of China, is well-known for Sichuan cuisine, like Kung Po Chicken. I spent my youth time in Chengdu for thirteen years, including my hard study in school and also many happy days. Furthermore, possessing beautiful scene, delicious food and unique leisure culture, Chengdu is a very appealing city. Even though there were a very few days I spent in Chengdu in recent ten years, I still miss it very much. Chengdu, the city that you do not want to leave once you are there, is my hometown.

The reason why I chose Beijing for college probably is that it is the capitol of China and has very good universities. While after nine years I stayed there, Beijing means a lot. In this city I got my bachelor and master degree. Meanwhile, in this city I met my soul mate and married with him. During the nine years, my body and mind matured.

I came to Columbus with my husband in 2008. I used to be a technician in a research lab related to pharmacy for about two years in OSU. Columbus has four lively distinctive seasons. My family are doing a lot of outdoor activities, like fishing, BBQ and shopping. In addition, we also like visiting state parks and national parks, and using camera to record our interesting experiences during these trips. The picture of my family I showed was taken in Yellowstone national park last year. We enjoy our life in Columbus and in USA very much.

hello everyone, I am lei chen

hi guys, I am  Lei Chen, my English name is Lee. I come from NingBo,  ZheJiang province, China. It is a small city but so beautiful. The city is closed to the East Sea, so the delicious sea food is my favorite. If you have a chance to visit my hometown, you will completely love it.
I am the single child in my family, so when I decided to come to America, my parents were so worried about me. They doubted wether I could take care of myself. However, I have been America nearly 10 months, I enjoyed the life here and improved that I could handle it.
By the way, I am a transfer from Merrimack college in Boston, but I also have two year experience in chinese university. That's cool, right? Obviously, there are so many differences between Chinese university and the American university, the different campus life, the different method of teaching. fortunately,In the Merrimack college, I met my first foreign friend, Peter. He really helped me lot not only in study but also in my daily life. He was my roommate and he was come from Serbia. He was a tennis player so he had to spend a lot of time on training. We always studied together and he enjoyed the chinese food which I brought from my hometown. Although I have transfered to another university, We still e-mail each other frequently. Now, I become a buckeye, I feel a little nervous but also so excited.  Everything is new to me. New classmates, new professor, new roommates. I can not wait to make friends with them.

Blog #1 Yuchen Li Self-Introduction

My name is Yuchen Li, I was born on 7 a.m. in the morning which is called "Chen" in chinese, otherwise Yu means "Given" so I was given birth to a Li family in the morning.

I was born in Nanjing, a city 300 kilometers north-west of Shanghai. In the year of 2001, my father bought a apartment in Shanghai, thus our family moved from Nanjing to Shanghai. Shanghai is the most civilized and modern city in China, with a population of 30 million people. Shanghai is too crowed and busy, a friend of mine spent 3.5 hours on commuting everyday which is definitely horrible because he woke up on 5 o'clock in the morning to catch the first bus.

The idea of study abroad was originated from peer pressure. Nearly all of my school friends went abroad to study, which makes me feel "lonely". One of my best friends go to University of  Leeds which located in Leeds, UK, we chat a lot through internet and exchange our ideas about our future and what will happen when we get our bachelor's and master's degree. He is person with tons of plans and ideas but I do not have even a short-term plan.
Randomly, he showed me a picture he took during hiking, which is the picture I enclosed. The picture is  SO BEAUTIFUL and BREATHTAKING. I mistook it as a oil painting at the first time and suddenly realized it was not a oil painting but a real scenery photograph. This photograph enhanced my longing of studying abroad, after that I started to prepare for my college enrollment with sufficient documents and financial support.

I love my country except the polluted air and the bad weather, Chinese people sacrifice their natural resources to GDP and anything related to economics development. I love and respect the nature, it is every human being's responsibility to maintain the nature with its original balance and function, rather than destory the nature world. My dream is to awake people's awareness of protecting the environment through multiple ways and use my knowledge and experience to support it.

After 17 hours total flight, I finally landed on the very land of Columbus, OHIO. I will keep that day, March 19th 2012, as a milestone of my life, which day a young man started to pursue his dream.

Blog #1 Self-Introduction

Welcome to our 106 class blog. Here you will practice writing on various topics related to plagiarism and digital storytelling as well as your own life experience. The purpose of the blog is to write for fluency, but please practice good format and correct and edit your blogs before you finally post them. In this first blog, write 250-300 words about yourself around the theme of some big adventure or challenge you have taken on in life. Write full, complete sentences and paragraphs with main ideas. Give details and specific examples. Please include a picture related to you and your topic. I have lived all of my life in Ohio, which is a midwest state of standard English. This is a picture of my family, including my wife, Ryo (Korean-American) and my two boys, Joe and Dan. We live together in Dublin. Three important challenges that have changed my life have been developing my career, traveling the world and teaching English, and raising my family. As a decision of faith, I began teaching in China in 1996 and returned to teach in Dalian, in 2002-2003 at the university of Technology. I lived there in Dalian with my family for a year and had the chance to experience Asian culture, close and personal.During the last decade, I was also able to travel to Korea and later to the South American nation of a Peru. I see teaching as an outlet for my interest in language and an exciting way to meet people from other cultures. After I returned, I completed my MA in TESOL and, at the same time began my teaching here at OSU in the ESL composition program, also teaching in the Spoken English Program and the American Language Program. Teaching and learning a language is hardwork, but I hope to help students reach their potential as academic communicators. I believe my diverse background as traveler, engineer, businessman and communicator helps me to do this. My resolution for this year is to help my family advance and continue our higher education For the last several years, I have participated in raising my two boys, Joe and Dan, who are moving on to college themselves. It has been a great joy for me to see them grow and develop their abilities and have exciting experiences of their own. They have been active in sports, band and their church activities. Now my oldest son is studying here at OSU. Now, Please go ahead and introduce yourself.
