Blog #1 Self-Introduction
Welcome to our 106 class blog. Here you will practice writing on various topics related to plagiarism and digital storytelling as well as your own life experience. The purpose of the blog is to write for fluency, but please practice good format and correct and edit your blogs before you finally post them. In this first blog, write 250-300 words about yourself around the theme of some big adventure or challenge you have taken on in life. Write full, complete sentences and paragraphs with main ideas. Give details and specific examples. Please include a picture related to you and your topic.
I have lived all of my life in Ohio, which is a midwest state of standard English. This is a picture of my family, including my wife, Ryo (Korean-American) and my two boys, Joe and Dan. We live together in Dublin. Three important challenges that have changed my life have been developing my career, traveling the world and teaching English, and raising my family.
As a decision of faith, I began teaching in China in 1996 and returned to teach in Dalian, in 2002-2003 at the university of Technology. I lived there in Dalian with my family for a year and had the chance to experience Asian culture, close and personal.During the last decade, I was also able to travel to Korea and later to the South American nation of a Peru. I see teaching as an outlet for my interest in language and an exciting way to meet people from other cultures.
After I returned, I completed my MA in TESOL and, at the same time began my teaching here at OSU in the ESL composition program, also teaching in the Spoken English Program and the American Language Program. Teaching and learning a language is hardwork, but I hope to help students reach their potential as academic communicators. I believe my diverse background as traveler, engineer, businessman and communicator helps me to do this. My resolution for this year is to help my family advance and continue our higher education
For the last several years, I have participated in raising my two boys, Joe and Dan, who are moving on to college themselves. It has been a great joy for me to see them grow and develop their abilities and have exciting experiences of their own. They have been active in sports, band and their church activities. Now my oldest son is studying here at OSU.
Now, Please go ahead and introduce yourself.
