Blog 2 : Game Day

Last fall I had a chance to watch my first football game at Ohio stadium. I was excited to see the Buckeyes win against Indiana. The game was supposed to start at noon on Saturday, so I thought I should leave home at 6am to get there easily like I did in my hometown when I went to watch a soccer game. But my friend told me not to worry, 10am would be fine. I wasn’t sure about this time because it’s a big event and thousands of people would be trying to park their cars and get their places in the stadium. In fact, he was right and I was surprised how the game was organized, even though there were long lines in the dining hall and traffic was slow, but everyone was having a good time, because everybody was patient and took turns. At least until after the game, when some people vomited in the streets. I walked into the stadium and took my place in the cheapest section and saw all the supporters from each team with their families, wearing their spirit wear and talking about the previous games. It really showed how much this games means to people. I heard that some of them graduated 50 years ago, but they keep coming and coming every year for pleasure and to support their team. Throughout the whole game, everyone had a smile on their faces. There was a ton of food, fun, and excitement. I have never seen so many people together in one place, without fighting, crashing, cussing, and spilling. The stadium was full of positive energy, I lost my voice from cheering for four hours, and my feet were itchy after standing and jumping the whole game. But it was a good feeling and I really had a memorable experience.
