Blog #5 images in digital story

The video “Choosing images for your digital story” from plagiarismstories.tumblr.com explains how students use proper images to interpret their digital stories. The woman states that the texts and images cooperatively explain or expand each other. Explicit images, like photos, can be used for direct relationship to the text in DST; on the other hand, symbolic images, like cartoon, are used to explain abstract content, such as friendship and emotions. According to the video, various types of images can be chose, such as cartoon, movie images and photos. The woman suggests that students find images not only from someone’s own photos but also from the internet. When students use images downloaded from internet, whether the behavior is defined as copyright infringement or not depends on different situations; moreover, it is essential to cite the sources by adding them in the list which is at the end of digital story to avoid plagiarism.
The picture I downloaded from lynmidnight.blogspot.com depicts a smile face under a blue sky. It is symbolic to express happiness or a happy ending after frustrations. Because it is suitable to interpret both my success in controlling blood sugar and happiness, I plan to use it in the digital story.
