The story, "Outside of Glass" written by Golden Jackson and published in http://digitalstory.osu.edu/stories/community/, describe the author's experience about teaching in Honduras. At the beginning she explains why she accept the invitation of her friend and formal students. She and her friends developed the courses for HIV children and provide content and support for students to develop the project. She also emphasize that the interaction with community reinforce the source of knowledge and she also learn a lot from students. In addition, she explains that service learning is very important and the experience is totally different and should not be missed.
The purpose of this story is sharing the experience of the author about being a teacher of preparing the students in service in Honduras as well as the author's change during the teaching, which is obvious for the audience. The story is interesting because it shows the author's change during the teaching. What expressive is that the author attach the voice of others to show what she learn from her students. However, she add the voice in her story without much explanation, which makes me confused when I watch this part. In addition, the voice is clear and easy to understand but adding some background music would improve the story. The images of the story can match the authors' voice and are mostly taken instead of downloading from the Internet, which makes the story more real. The author try to dig deeper of this experience about how knowledge can interact with the real setting, which is also an attractive part of the story. As a whole the story is good to me the audience and it is interesting.
